Swan Princess will be at the Salt Lake Animation expo May 20 and 21, 11am-7pm at the Slopes EVNTS Center in Draper, Utah, selling some of our original production art cels!
Before computer animation, every frame in an animated film was drawn by hand. 24 frames are required for one second of film. Most full-length, animated films required around one million drawings, including storyboards, backgrounds, pencil drawings and acrylic-painted cels.
In cel animation, characters and objects were drawn on the transparent sheet and laid over a background. The use of cels eliminated the need to redraw the entire image, background and all, every time something moved. Multiple layers also created depth.
This process of hand-painted 2D animation is now very rare and has not been used in the animation of full-length films since the 1990's.

Tales of the Traveling Suit
Swan Princess Producer, Seldon Young is known far and wide for his Swan Princess argyle fashion. As he says "its wonderful to be proud enough of your work to wear it on your sleeve." He loves that the outfit choice has allowed him to have many fun experiences around the world with amazing Swan Princess fans!
Seldon used to have so much fun taking iconic pictures around the world, jumping in the air with glee. This activity came to an end when Seldon attended a social event for a local streaming channel. The press photographer at the event wanted to get some good shots of him jumping. It became a repeated activity for many of the people at the party as everyone joined Seldon in jumping for photos. During this event Seldon felt pain in his foot. Weeks later, when the pain had not resolved, Seldon's doctor informed him that he had broken a bone in his foot with the repeated jumps in the air. Needless to say there are no longer pink argyle infused jumping photos happening around the world.
Have you ever taken a perfect jumping picture? We would love to see one of you in your best Swan Princess gear like Seldon! Share your picture with us on social media @SwanPrincessOfficial or email us at Odette@SwanPrincessSeries.com
This month we are celebrating the birthday of the regal King William. This makes his zodiac sign Taurus and his birthstone the emerald.
Taurus people are reliable and down-to-earth. They are very stubborn and love set patterns in life. They make loyal friends as they are wonderful at staying the course of life's ups and downs to be forever supportive of those they love.
Taurus love all things romantic and will throw themselves into finding true love for themselves and others (even if that means making your daughter spend summers with the prince you think is 'the one').
Taurus are loving and soothing to be around, this makes them great parents especially for young children.
They have very strong opinions and tend to stick to them. While this makes them passionate it can also make them seem unadventurous or close-minded.
The emerald symbolizes balance, growth, peace, and foresight. King William certainly showed great foresight in his choice of match for Odette!
We think this sounds just like King William! Is your birthday in May or do you just love the color green?

This months question comes to us from a fan on Instagram.
Question: Was Rogers a butler or valet/musician advisor?
Answer: Lord Rogers is a member of the Queen's Royal Court, historically a group of lesser royals who live at the castle to be friends with and advise the Queen. Roger's and Uberta's close friendship, and in the later films romance, allowed him to also take on the roles of musician, inventor, and educator to both Prince Derek and Alise. The castle at Chamberg just wouldn't be the same without Lord Rogers crazy antics keeping things exciting!
Spring is in the air and summer is almost here! The pinks are shifting to green, and while I tended to dread summer growing up, now I love it! While I would love for Alise to join us with all of the festivals and farming tours we get to attend, she has been getting sick. At first it seemed to be the flu, but just as symptoms cleared up, she was struck down with another cold! She had the worst cough, and it broke my heart to hear it. We tried to give her bedrest or insist on bringing in the doctor, but every time Alise said no and she would be fine. Personally, I think she just has a fear of doctors. It had to take her missing a large party by the riverside to finally get Alise to agree to see the doctor. The cause of her horrible coughs and sniffles? Seasonal allergies! We were confused since she never had them before, but we were told that sometimes that just happens. The body changes constantly, and while one time you might be just fine with pollen, you might not be the next. Either way, now she has proper medicine for the more heavy pollen days and she’s better than ever! I’m so glad she took a chance to face her fears so she wouldn’t miss out on the sunshine with us.
