Outdoor Scavenger Hunt
Going for walks is a popular activity to get out of the house right now. Brighten your neighbors day by adding some art to the sidewalks. You can write fun sayings, draw pictures, or create your own masterpiece.
Sidewalk Art (Stained Glass)
WHAT YOU NEED
-
Chalk
-
Painters Tape
DIRECTIONS
-
Start by adding tape to the ground in a fun geometric design. You can let the kids make it by giving each child a long strip of painters tape & letting them make the next line.
- Next, give them as many colors of sidewalk chalk as you can find in the house! The more, the merrier!
- Then, let each child color a square until you have a beautiful stained glass chalk design.
Not everyone has chalk lying around the house so a fun alternative is to make your own version of Chalk for your sidewalk or driveway.
Sidewalk Chalk Paint
WHAT YOU NEED
-
2 cups Cornstarch
-
2 cups Water
-
Food Coloring, various colors
-
8 Small Clear Cups or a Cupcake Baking Pan
-
Paintbrush
DIRECTIONS
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the water and cornstarch and stir until the cornstarch dissolves and it is smooth. It will be kind of runny.
-
Divide the mixture evenly into the small plastic cups or into a cupcake baking sheet. Use food coloring to make different colors in each cup.
-
Use paintbrushes to paint pictures on the sidewalk or driveway outside. The mixture is thinner and runnier than regular paint, but just paint your pictures like you would with any other paint. The paint dries quickly, and it will resemble sidewalk chalk. The colors are very bright once they dry! It washes off very easily with rain or the hose.
